Arlen turns 9!

What? 9? Who? 9? Are you sure? 

Yes, yes, it's true. My firstborn is 9! So hard to believe. We had an unexpected surprise of me getting called off from work on Sunday night which meant I was able to spend the entire day with the Birthday Boy and I wasn't sleep deprived! 

We started out the Eddy tradition of opening presents as a family first thing in the morning. He got a handful of gifts some from his list and a few surprises! Then Daddy J had to go to work and we were lazy for a few hours and then hit the pool for a swim and picnic lunch. 

Arlen's idea for birthday dinner was for is to bike up to Blakeney, eat pizza and have ice cream for dessert. The weather cooperated and we had a blast! 

The night ended with a family game of UNO!

Day 10

A reward for Clarke and Lars completing their swim lessons! Clarke has drastically improved since day 1! She is now able to jump into the pool and start swimming all by herself! Lars is kicking and blowing bubbles. It took him quite some time to adjust to the lessons. 

Day 9

Our lovely garden! We really enjoy having a garden! It's so much fun to watch things grow (especially when you get to eat them!). 

Day 8

My view this evening. Sitting by the baby pool with a good read (can you believe I'm reading? Me either) waiting on big brothers swim practice. C&L love it when they have the baby pool to themselves!

I have been enforcing a daily nap time.

Chilling at the swim meet with my little bubby. He has a Gatorade mustache! 

Day 5

The kids decided for Father's Day that they were going to take J out to dinner since he always cooks for us. They chose a "restaurant" that we don't visit very often- Bojangles! I was sad to miss it, but looks like they had fun! 

Day 4

So this little note was sticking out from my drivers side door when I got to my car in the parking deck this morning! Made my day! I love working with my sister. We try to meet in the cafeteria every shift that we work together to get a drink. It's so nice knowing that she's down the hall! Love her! 

Day 3

Here's Lars during a swim lesson. For some unknown reason he has become afraid of the water during his lessons. He will do the crab walk, however! I hope by the end of next week he will have a different outlook! 

Day 2

What a surprise to see a school friend a swim lessons today! Clarke and Maddy had a great time playing and coloring together while Lars was in his lesson. 

Day 1 of Summer 2014

Arlen received his trophy from Coach Tatum at the team party tonight. This is his third and final season of machine pitch. He will move up to the Minors in the fall. Bittersweet. Coach Tatum will not be coaching next season for the Minors. We are excited that Arlen is moving up to a more challenging level. This is kid pitch!
Yay! And happy 1st Day of SUMMER!!!
