Earth Box

Arlen loves to read Curious George, as well as watch the TV show. Last year Grandaddy had a small vegetable garden, and Arlen loved to help him pick the tomatoes. He really enjoys helping with yard work. So, since we have moved to our new house we have been talking about planting a garden. We have not yet put up a fence out back, so this year we opted for something a little different. Mostly because of the "critters" we have in the back field. There is a family of deer we see almost daily. Usually about 6 of them, but can be up to 10!
Ok, so back to George......He grew carrots. Arlen has been talking about growing carrots for 6 months now. So, J has created an Earth Box. A different approach to gardening. We will let you know how it works. Cherry tomatoes and carrots this go round. Arlen planted carrot seeds in the little pot. We are going to wait for them to get established, then transfer them to the Earth Box. He woke up the next morning thinking that he would be able to see them grow......what a great learning experience for him!!

so, i can't figure out how to get that underlining off the post, and my computer consultant is at work! oh well. at least you can still read it! it somehow created a link to that Earth Box pic. hahaha.

Love it! We grow our cherry tomatoes, strawberries, limas, and cukes in pots too. It is easier for the kids to take care of them, and they love to water and pick them. We have had the buddies pick green tomatoes more than once, lol. Great idea for him!

Ar was so cute about planting the carrots! And on Easter he really wanted to know why the carrots hadn't grown yet! Dad had to explain that it might take a while...I can't wait to see how the Earth Box and carrots turn out!
