You would not believe how many people say, "you are holding him back, aren't you?" I just don't understand. Yes his birthday is July 28 and yes the cutoff is Aug 31. They make these cutoffs for a reason people! Not to hold back because the child's birthday is 1 month away from the cutoff. It seems as if no one held back because of birthdays, then we wouldn't have this problem, BUT EVERYONE DOES. I am so tired of hearing, but boys do so much better when held back! I will let his teachers tell me what they think and then make my decision. It does sadden me that next year he will be riding the bus and be gone ALL day, but this of course is no reason to hold back.

Carey I totally agree with you. We held the buddies back too. They would have been four the first two months of school. They were completely ready this year, we haven't had any problems. You will be so glad you did. Our preschool did the lunch trays too, I loved watching them carry the trays to the table.
Okay, I misread this, sorry, lol. I for a minute thought you meant this year. Wyatt turned five in August and was fine. It depends on the child. Some are ready some are not. Do what your gut feeling tells you. I personally think he will be ready.
omg A is SO BIG! Is he loving school or what? What kind of homework do they give pre-kers? That sounds a bit crazy--but I hope he's having fun. Is it nice to be able to give baby C some alone time? Wish we lived closer so I could watch her for you! I've become my friends go-to babysitter since I'm pretty much available all the time now, lol. Hope all is well!
i cant believe A will be in kindergarten next year!! i am freaking out! totally agree with you about holding back, if he is ready he should go!! if in NY, he would have kids born in Dec in his kindergarten with him! love you guys :)
We went through the same thing with Graham. He turned 5 in July, but we weren't sure if he would be ready or not. We talked with his Preschool teachers and just watched and waited that year he was four. I really thought he might not be ready. By the time the year was over, his teacher assured me he would be fine. We went ahead and sent him on to kindergarten and he was fine. I do not regret not holding him back. Every child is different and you will make the right choice for your child.
