First Night Back

Well, it took me ALL day to get ready for work! Thank goodness I started at 7:30AM!! I had to wash the kids clothes (school clothes, blankets and burp cloths), and some clothes for the adults (underwear, Tshirts, work socks). The kids clothes got folded, thanks to the hubs! But the adult clothes are still in the dryer as we speak. Is everyone as bad about folding as I am? I just plain hate it! And if I fold, they usually stay in the basket for a few days, just enough to get rummaged through and wrinkly!
Then I started packing C's bag. She needed multiple outfits, burp cloths and blankets, because she spits all day long, diapers (like 20 b/c she can't stand for her diaper to be wet or dirty!), wipes, pacis, bottle, formula (for emergencies) and so on. The plan was for J to take her to GG's house in the am on his way (or out of his way) to work!
So then I had to think about A's bag. He has to take his bookbag and lunchbox, school clothes, PJs and don't forget the white blanket! The plan was for him to be picked up by GG (between 5:45 and 8pm) and spend the night there. She would take him to school in the AM (this has been his schedule since J and I got married).
Next it was my bag! I had to get my breast pump, the cooler pack, the bottles, and made sure there were new batteries incase I got a short break to pump where there was no outlet! I needed extra breast pads too, since the LC warned me I was going to be leaking everywhere (which didn't happen :) ). Then I had to get my work stuff (stethescope, etc.), which had been out of work for 9 weeks! And also think about what food I was going to take for dinner. Thanks to my wonderful husband.......I ate chicken alfredo with veggies and cream sauce (my coworkers were jealous).
DO I HAVE EVERYTHING?????
And I had to try to find time for a nap (which luckily I got a 2 hour one in!), a shower and make sure I had a uniform that fit (last time I worked I was preggo!).
Well, all of that went fairly smoothly and I was able to feed C from 5:15-5:45!!! PERFECT.
So, I wished J luck and was off!!! I felt good. Suprisingly, no tears!! Ar was a little sad, but seemed Ok, as long as I beeped 2 times. I was off for a long night. I had only been away from C for a combined total of about 6 hours of her entire life! And here I was leaving her for abotu 14! She was the only one I felt bad for. I didn't feel bad for me because I was ready to use my brain a little bit (other than scheduling feedings, laundry, etc). I didn't feel bad for J because I knew he was going to do GREAT. And I didn't feel bad for A b/c GG's is his second home and he loves the attention he gets there.
So, I got to work in enough time to grab a cup of coffee. Got to the break room and saw my best work buddy, Jazz, and that made me feel good. I missed her. We mosied on into the report room, and come to find out, I was pulled! I had a good idea that it would happen. When I came back from leave after A, the same thing happened to me. No big shocker. I was a little sad that I wasn't going to be hanging out with my buds, but I knew it was best to go ahead and take the pull. So I got to NICU and they said I was to go to NPCN! YEAH! That is my favorite place to be pulled to. The nurses are real nice and I love playing with the little babies. I was able to catch up with a girl that I went to school with (6 years ago!). All my babies were on the same schedule, which was hectic, but nice! I was able to pump at 8, 11 and 2. I could've pumped again at 5, but decided to wait and feed when I got to mom's. I called home to check on J and C and got no answer. This was around 11pm, I was hoping this meant that J was asleep and not that C was screaming so loud that he couldn't hear his phone!!! He called me back a short while later and said that C was doing great and that she was in bed. This was a huge relief. I could now stop worrying that she would give him trouble. Once she gets to sleep, she stays asleep for a while. I didn't hear from him again and I assumed that no news was good.
It was a great night. Two of the parents asked me to be their nurse again!!!! (I don't even work on this unit people!!!!!!! That is a high compliment in my opinion!!!). I was able to get out at a decent time and go say hey to my coworkers back on 9. It was nice to see their smiling faces!
I called J right at 8 to make sure he made it to work on time (which he did) and make sure his night went OK! He said it went smoothly.
Now it was off to the rents. I get a call as I'm pulling out of the deck, "are you on the way?" C is in the background SCREAMING!!! She was "starving". I told them to give her a bottle if they needed to. Now I started speeding! I wanted to FEED her. I missed her!! I was hoping they wouldn't give in. I really just wanted to "snug" her and feed her. My sweet baby girl.

I MADE IT!!!

Whew! You are on the ball girl. I do the same thing with the laundry. I end up folding it on my bed and it stays there until I go to bed, and put it BACK into the baskets, lol. I just can't seem to keep up with it anymore. Did four loads today, the last one is whites (socks and undies) and I hate matching all the socks. Sounds like you have everything under control. Getting the stuff out the day before has been my life saver more than once.
