I drove up to Raleigh to co-host a baby shower for her! It turned out really nice.
I made a diaper cake (first attempt), and was pretty happy with the way it turned out!
I also made a diaper wreath for the front door. We had to place it inside because of the weather. I was pretty impressed with it, but the foam ring that I used for the shape started to flake off into the diapers. Once I realized that these diapers were not going to be able to be used, I hot glued the animals on. I was trying to figure out a good way to attach them without gluing, but my problem solved itself!
The spread.
Note the background. Amy has a chalkboard in her eating area. Amy's mom decorated it with some pictures from when Amy was little. She put little quotes all around the pictures. It was cute.
I made the cupcakes. French Vanilla cake with Buttercream frosting. I also made little cupcake toppers. Those were quite a challenge, but turned out cute. They said things like, "baby boy" "it's a boy" oh, boy!" and "baby hawk" (one of the many nicknames for this little guy).
I was also in charge of the games. We played guess how big Amy's belly is, bottle race, and which baby food is this by smell, and the game where everyone starts out with a diaper pin on their shirt and if someone catches you saying "baby" your pin gets taken. The guest with the most pins in the end wins.
I had J make me some lavender soy candles for the prizes. Those seemed to be a hit!
The lady of the hour, Amy, and her two best friends, Julie and I.
Julie was responsible for most of the food and the flowers.
Amy getting showered with some great gifts!!!
All in all it was a great shower! There were 12 guests which fit comfortably in the den of Amy's home. We mingled, played games, munched on some treats, opened presents and talked about...you guessed it....BABIES!!
We had a blast. Lars stayed upstairs in the bonus room with a sitter and I never heard a peep from him! He got a very good report. I hope that I can get up there to see the new edition to this sweet home soon after he arrives!
